If you're using vim, type
<ALTGR :> a for an a-fada
Sorry that's not very readable, hold alt-gr and hit semi-colon. Then type
the vowel you want and you should get it with a fada.
Don't know about other editors to be honest. Hope this helps, although if
you're not a vim person it's probably as useful as a sweet fart.
