You didn't check?
Solaris on x86 is not developed to be an operating system that'll work
on all x86 machines, especially not laptops.
I'll bet money that it won't work on your laptop because it was never
meant to work on your laptop.

list on yahoogroups is probably the best place to look for information on
this. Also, the alt.solaris.x86 newsgroup is decent.
