Last one I got was 5 or 6 CDs.  Last one I saw was 7.  That's not to say
you need it all, but it's very handy to have if you're on a dialup.  How
handy would it be to have it all on one big DVD?

I know Attila Nagy maintains an unofficial one and it's usually mirrored
on www.planetmirror.com (it's down now).  The one I got had a bug in it which 
meant tasks were broken and you had to deal directly with pakcages for 
everything.  That was fixed I think though as there'd been a change in apt's 
task notation which apt-cdrom had not yet been updated to understand.
This was about four months ago.
