You've got two choices;
A user space setup which is by far the easiest to do;
http://benoit.papillault.free.fr/speedtouch/index.en.php3
or http://speedtouch.sourceforge.net/
or a Kernel setup which is spectacularly difficult because you need to hack &
match kernel and pppd versions very closely - I wasn't able to get this one
going properly. You may need to persue this if you want VPN and other fancy
ppp connections

Either way, you will need to visit alcatels web site to get the most recent
driver;

Watch out for hotplug (usb utlity) which can wreck havoc with your system.
I started making an ADSL HOWTO a while back that never got finished. I'd
appreciate any input from anyone in RoI

Mail me off list if you continue to have problems.
