A few years ago while working in motorola in swords (may they rot in
hell), I discovered the secret to not going "ow!" everytime you touch
some metal. The carpets there had an amazing ability to cause static
buildup, but by touching your knuckle (choose a knucle, any knuckle) of
a random large lump of metal (cubicle frames in this case) all the
electricity is discharged without hitting muscle on the way out, hence
avoiding the jerking and pain etc.
