The sub-1GB era Maxtor drives were bad enough that I've never even 
considered using one again. Poor build quality. Poor firmware. Low 
interoperability with drives from other manufacturers leading to data 
corruption. In the bottom of my book it's an even fight between Maxtor 
and Western Digital for last place.
