sigh. uncontrollable rant...

the imacs listed aren't much more expensive then similar dell systems.
one thing i really like is the swivel arm. how many times have i tried
to move my monitor to show people something?

the fact is that apple, despite a slew of faults, designs excellent
s/w from a ui perspective, and designs excellent hardware. and they
do tend to addopt standards from an interface perspective - scsi, usb,
ethernet, firewire. they used all of those *after* they became standards
but *before* the peecee world ever heard of them.

i personally hope that the kde and gnome developers have access to macs
and use them as a usability goalpost, and not lame systems like cde,
aw3d or ms windows.
