There are several BIOS add-ons that attach to a BIOS and extend
its HD capabilities. Check the harddrive manufacturer's website;
I know I've managed to get some really old computers with braindead
chipsets to work with modern drives (some were even of the RZ1000
and CMD640 strains - numbers etched into my brain after much hassle).
