On the subject of DVDs, anyone with one of those Creative or Hollywood+
DVD cards should play a visit to dxr3.sourceforge.net; imagine my surprise
when I downloaded the source, followed the howto and within 90 minutes was
playing DVDs from within mplayer!
Now it's not perfect just yet (I haven't played more than 10 minutes
without mplayer locking), but who's complaining - the drivers have come so
far by now that they will soon be stable.
This would be a great yoke for building your own DVD player out
of...especially since apparently mplayer can output any format it supports
to the card, which would just be great.
