The kernel's NTFS driver can do R/W, but it's considered somewhat
experimental and hazardous to your data, and thus is disabled by
default.

If you'd like this to improve right away, urge Microsoft Corporation to 
cooperate with the international coder community, and then sit and wait
for the proverbial snowfall in Hades.
