[ILUG] Spam Trap?

[ILUG] Spam Trap?

While it seems quite obvious that it's not possible to detect and block
all spam, the increasing amount of the stuff makes it more worthwhile
to spend some time putting filters in place, particularly on incoming
mail servers. I've been wondering lately about using a spam trap of
some kind. You know, a dummy address for which you assume all
received mail is spam and then block all similar incoming to any
destination.

Has anyone tried to do this? I know it would take a while to start to
work (while the dummy address finds its way into the lists), but does it
work at all? You'd probably make the dummy address something that
would be sorted close to the top of an alphabetic list so that any
particular spam shot would likely arrive at it early in the cycle.
