I looked up choices of connecting to ADSL  - think I simply googled "adsl 
linux" and I found that there are a few option and roaring penguin is the 
easier way. 

Get roaring penguin find it through google or freshmeat, and then install it. 
You just have to answer questions in a setup script. Only other thing is make 
sure you have ppp as modules in the kernel and make sure you have the latest 
version of pppd, the latest supports pppoe I am pretty sure.
