Finally got my old 486/66 working with 16MB and 2 ide disks (master & slave
on ide channel 0), and an ide cd-rom drive on channel 1.
fine, no probs.. apart form being very slow booting.
Now, time to put the cd back in it's original location, but, if i disconnect
the drive, linux wont boot. if i connect it again, it boots fine. disconnect
it... wont boot !
I was getting an error number, and just tried it again to see what it was,
but now its simply stopping at a LILO prompt
No... just tried another power off and on, now I get a screen filling up
with funny characters.
.. connect the ide cd-rom again (on its own ide channel) and all is hunky
dorey !
any ideas / suggestions ?
Thanks,
Declan
