There is no kdesupport package for recent versions of KDE.
I had to install kdesupport from KDE 2.1 before I could
compile KDE-2.2.1 on my Slackware 8 box. I also had to
install libxml2 and pcre.

IMHO the pre-compiled binaries of KDE that come with
Slackware and RedHat are absolute crap. It is well
worth taking the time and trouble to compile KDE
from source. I find my home-compiled KDE is noticably
faster and much more stable than any pre-compiled
version that I have seen. It takes many hours to
compile, but it is worth the wait.
