I'm not sure if the chip supports AT command directly or not (I suspect 
not) but first you'd have to get those AT commands to the device. There 
is a USB spec for serial devices, in the same way there's a spec for 
keyboard & mouse (HID), but nobody seems to want to implement it for 
serial devices so most devices need their own device driver. Same goes 
for many of the USB storage devices - some of them are 'close' to the 
spec though and just need tweaks or firmware uploads.
