I've been talking with Kate off-list on this ...
root at dubrhlnx1:~# ls -l /mnt
total 12
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jun 24 09:42 floppy
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jun 25 18:01 h
drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 4096 Jun 11 16:48 rhtemp
root at dubrhlnx1:~# mount -t smbfs //server/rhtemp /mnt/rhtemp -o
username=X,password=Y,workgroup=Z
root at dubrhlnx1:~# ls -l /mnt
ls: /mnt/rhtemp: Permission denied
total 8
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jun 24 09:42 floppy
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jun 25 18:01 h
is similar to what he gets ...
I've managed to replicate where one of a set of conflicting users has
"No-Access" set on the NT permissions ...
In this case user X had "Read", Everyone was "No-Access" ... the same
happens if user X has "No-Access" and Everyone has "Read"
In short, check the share and the permissions if you're getting this error !
