I also use squirrelmail, with qmail and courier-imap. I could detail the 
functionality, but what the hell - I can give you an account to try it out, 
if you want to see what Squirrelmail is like. Just drop me a mail.

It should work with any IMAP / sendmail enabled server, and it's easy to 
install.
