not true. despite the name, xhost can be a frontend for many
different security mech's - see Xsecurity, Secure RPC or Krb5.
shame most of the secure mech's arent implemented. (due i guess to
the vendor infighting and positioning.) though, i /think/ XFree
supports kerberosV5 (it has some code anyway), dont know of anyone
using it or of any dists that even supply X with it compiled in.
