my friend got the linux code from a floppy disk (his friend is a hacker type 
works in an internet cafe). we downloaded the code onto my laptop and then 
this problem happened.

so window$ IS better than linux???? i don't think so. window$ crashes all 
the time while with wine i can run windows *perfectly* using the linux code 
+ reliability + open source. but maybe u are right about the drivers. i will 
still give it a try though.

i will ask compustore about the printer. thanks again.
