I had a similar problem with a printer. Basically the signal isn't getting
through. Check the physical connections.
Could be anything from a piece of dust blocking a contact to a break in the
printed circuit.
make sure nothing has fallen into the (I'm assuming it's a) pci slot before
you pushed the card in.

 instead of
the normal "award bios" i get "a$.rsd b-2s" the screen
is laid out as it was but character are sustituted.
