I realise this is way off topic, but I'm stuck.
I've got a Windows98SE CD and I need to install it on an old PC I've got for
a friend. Unfortunately, the PC can not boot from the CD. I know there has to
be a boot disk image on the CD somewhere to conform to the eltorito specs,
but I can not seem to find it. Of course M$ would not make it easy.
Does anyone know where this boot disk image is stored so I can copy it to a
boot floppy?
The only other option is to put the hard drive into a PC that CAN boot from
CD, install Windows ontl the hard drive, then put hte hard drive into hte
other PC, but I don't have a spare PC that CAN boot from CD. Also, since the
install will be on different hardware, I'll still need to let Windows figure
out that the hardware has changed and hope it can update itself properly. YEA
Right.
Thanks for any help and sorry for such an off-topic post.
Cheers,
John Gay
