[ILUG] building kde3.1 on redhat linux 7.3

[ILUG] building kde3.1 on redhat linux 7.3

I have tried building kde 3.1alpha sources with redhat gcc 2.96 (redhat
rpms) and gcc3.1 (from gnu source). I can build it no problem (after 24
hours of compiling). Qt works and I can fire up designer but everytime I
start an app dcop crashes.

I have consulted the various sites but have found nothing. Kde has been
built correctly ( arts, libs, base .. etc) and qt has been compiled with the
correct command line switches. I have deleted the relevant dcop && ice files
in temp and ~. I think there must be a conflict with some redhat library or
something .... So my question is has anyone else been in this place before
and have they found a way out ?

Kindest Regards
Bryan

PS: I know Suse would work better with kde but suse does not work on my
laptop.
PS: I know that people are going to sugest that I switch desktop to gnome so
can we skip that
trollfest in advance.

"And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they
have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and
whosoever receiveth the mark of his name."
(Revelation 14:11)
