[ILUG] Printer oddities

[ILUG] Printer oddities

Niall O Broin niall at linux.ie
Mon Jul 29 15:49:18 IST 2002

I have a SuSE 8.0 box on which I'm running lprng. I have one printer on the
network (a HP LaserJet 2100 TN PS) and three printers defined on the box.
One is simply a forwarding queue to the printer raw on the laserject, and
the others are prefilters to raw, one called text and one called ps. At the
moment I have the following output from lpq for the three printers:

lpc1:/var/spool/lpd # lpq -Praw
JetDirect lpd: no jobs queued on this port

lpc1:/var/spool/lpd # lpq -Ptext
Printer: text at lpc1 'lpdfilter drv=upp method=ascii color=yes redirect=raw'
Queue: no printable jobs in queue
 Server: no server active
Rank Owner/ID Class Job Files Size Time
done root A 195 /etc/printcap 651 11:17:52

lpc1:/var/spool/lpd # lpq -Plp
Printer: lp at lpc1 'lpdfilter drv=upp method=auto color=yes redirect=raw'
Queue: no printable jobs in queue
 Server: no server active
Rank Owner/ID Class Job Files Size Time
done stefan A 386 smbprn.000031.z3hUJ 441551 10:35:15

Anyone have any idea what the done output is about ?

Niall
