This is driving me nuts.

I am trying to switch to a linux desktop, with dosemu (dont ask why !) and wine. As I'm not too familiar with mutt, I was tryign to install either balsa or mahogany to have a gui mail client.

mahogany rpm (mahogany-0.64-0.i386.rpm) fails dependancies for libcrypt.so.1 and libssl.so.1.

All my gooling for these point to openssl-0.9.6 which I installed from source.

Still wearing my newbie hat, I did a 'locate -u' and then a 'locate libcrypt' and all I get is :

/home/declan/openssl-0.9.6d/libcrypto.a
/lib/libcrypt-2.1.92.so
/lib/libcrypt.so.1
/usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.5a
/usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0
/usr/lib/libcrypt.a
/usr/lib/libcrypt.so
/usr/lib/libcrypto.a
/usr/local/ssl/lib/libcrypto.a

Am I right in thinking my version of libcrypto is 0.9.5a ?

Please Help !

I have configured & compiled the openssl source with and without the '--prefix=/usr' option, which *should* put the libs into /usr/lib methinks.
