Have you looked at mono?
BTW the $135m "investment" by M$ in Corel was interesting.
Corel had a lot (of supposedly valid) lawsuits against M$
regarding wordperfect etc, but they were in a dire cash
flow position so they made a deal with the devil for which
M$ got 25% of the company, oh and ye Corel had to develop
notyet for POSIX . M$' $135m investment is today worth
$20.5m, ouch!
