2.4 kernels are more PnP aware than their 2.2 counterparts, it looks like
one of the drivers isn't playing fair in 2.4 .. I suggest first off moving
to 2.4.18 to make sure this hasn't been solved..
then maybe try a 2.4.19-pre if you want, after that, then I suggest the
lkml as your next port of call ..
