ypserv needs to be running too.  of course it won't be running initially,
so just ignore the errors, the maps were set up correctly.  once they
are, you can run ypserv and all will be well.  make sure the output of
nisdomainname is your nis domain (if not either set it with nisdomainname
or reboot the box).
