[ILUG] HP 14GB IDE dat drive, needs a restore

Hi lads,

I am restoring me uncle's HDD after a lovely OOOOutlook virus kiilled all the machines in the office. Nice, not.

Anyway, turns out that the original software is missing from the kit and HP are not at all helpfull, not supported anymore.
So I tried installing it on my linux box and tried tar (not a tar archive so no good) ,restore (not a dump file), and even arkeia [its too complicated in the short time I have]

I then gave up and installed it on my doze2k professional box, used the backupexec from 2k and says, sorry, please fsck off and use the original software as its proprietry.

I eventually got a copy on the net of the HP Tape backup II software version 6.0 and I hope to jausus its compatible, but just in case.
Does anyone know of a linux way of restoring this proprietry backups?

I already know the answer but you never know.

p.s.: whats the cpio way of restoring? I've only ever used arcserve and tar.
CW
