[ILUG] Basic Permissions Question

[ILUG] Basic Permissions Question

Hi Guys,

Well finally I get to spend sometime sorting out permissions.

I have always used the default permissions but now I need a bit more of a
custom set up for a particular directory.

There will be two groups, staff and clients

All have local accounts (Until I figure out pureftpd with Mysql ;-) however
I want anyone who belongs to the staff group to be able to overwrite the
files of anyone that belongs to the clients group.

Is this correct then
Group File
Admin:x:2000
Clients:x:3000

Passwd file entry for two users one client on admin
staffmember:x:600:2000:Staff Member:/home/staff:/bin/bash
clientmember:x:601:3000:Client:/home/clients:/usr/bin/nologin

Would this work?

Also if anyone has any experience with pureftpd and Mysql and setting it up
do they have any tips. It seems simple enough by reading the docs but it
still does not log me in.

Thanks in Advance
Aj
