I had tried to dload the sources and compile etc, but when the dload of sources ran into the >= 4hr mark I kinda started cringing as it was a Sunday night and my internet connection get expensive come 8am Monday morning.
Anyhow I have been thinking nuking Solaris x86 and going for a Gentoo install, though the notion of compiling for anything other than march=athlon on my athy system seems kind of a waste of time as the compiled binaries with march=686 might just as well be Mandrake binaries /shrug. I don't know it's either linux from scratch of Gentoo.... sure the sun is shining it's Tuesday etc... either way it is the season for building linux installs from scratch, hehe.
