When your editing your dns records cant you specify multiple MX records in
order of preference , then if the first one is unreachable it will go to the
next and then
the next etc etc. You could then get a virtual server at DSVR and use it as
the backup
mail server , instructing it to forward its mails to your own mail server,
it would then
que the mails and when your server came back up again it would send them to
it. The advantage of this is that you would control you mail system, end to
end.

It might not be the cheapest, but backupdns (www.backupdns.com) offer
a service with both backup NS and backup MX services for not-very-much
money.
