anyway.. attractiveness of tape was always the $/GB factor, and
simply that tapes could hold more than disks could. that isnt true
anymore - in fact the situation is now completely reversed. indeed, a
certain saying should perhaps be revised to be "dont underestimate
the bandwidth of a stationwagon full of IDE disks".
you can get IDE hot swap caddies. Linux supports IDE hot-swap (to
some degree).
so why use tapes anymore (if cost is a factor)?
