[ILUG] PATH statements in Mandrake 8.0

[ILUG] PATH statements in Mandrake 8.0

I'm losing what should be a very simple battle: I'm trying to add
/usr/local/bin to the $PATH, so I can run stuff I compile myself. Mandrake
seem to have a thing against such efforts. Look below ;-o.

I first went through and added the '$PATH:' statement (Which no script had)
to all of these, and /usr/local/bin in the odd one here and there; no joy.
The rc(runlevel).d/S99local script, BTW, is run *after* all others, so it
says in the header. Then I added the PATH statement to rc.local. No joy. Have
I got bad breath or something?
