This is a wierd one. I've been using sendmail on my PLD box for the last
four weeks. The day before yesterday, it silently (from an MUA
perspective) stopped working.
I only realised this when I noticed my ILUG posts weren't going through.
The only change I've made from the default install of sendmail, on day
one, was to add:
DSdogbert.internal.antefacto.com
which is our internal mailserver. However, every mail I send, I get
messages like the following in my mail logs:
May 1 08:55:38 bartender sendmail[10226]: g418tcE6010226: to=lbw-ie at draiocht.net, ctladdr=valen at tuatha.org (501/504), delay=00:00:00, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=30534, relay=localhost.internal.antefacto.com. [127.0.0.1], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (g418tcpX010227 Message accepted for delivery)
May 1 08:55:38 bartender sendmail[10229]: g418tcpX010227: to=<lbw-ie at draiocht.net>, delay=00:00:00, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=30804, relay=dogbert.internal.antefacto.com. [172.24.1.101], dsn=4.0.0, stat=Deferred: Connection refused by dogbert.internal.antefacto.com.
dogbert *is* accepting connections. I even removed the smart host line,
and then sending to ILUG gave me errors like:
May 1 00:18:56 bartender sendmail[22775]: g410Iu1W022775: to=valen at tuatha.org, ctladdr=john (501/504), delay=00:00:00, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=30079, relay=localhost.internal.antefacto.com. [127.0.0.1], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (g410Iu2R022777 Message accepted for delivery)
May 1 00:19:15 bartender sendmail[22773]: g410GBUZ022335: to=<valen at tuatha.org>, ctladdr=<john at bartender.internal.antefacto.com> (501/504), delay=00:03:04, xdelay=00:00:27, mailer=esmtp, pri=120374, relay=mxbackup.iol.net. [194.125.2.214], dsn=4.0.0, stat=Deferred: mxbackup.iol.net.: No route to host
Despite the fact that I could telnet to mxbackup.iol.net, port 25 without
any problems. Anyone know what could have happened ?
John, now sending from Glen's machine...
