That's called salesmanship. I can't see what you're criticising here, unless
it's your own susceptiblity to a good sales pitch.
FWIW, I've had good deals at PC World, Maplin, Peats, Beyond 2000, IT Direct,
and CompuStore (although the latter tend to be rare). I've also had bad deals
at all of these places. I've found both helpful and unhelpful staff in all
of them except Peats, which only seems to stock the helpful sort whenever I've
been there.
