I've admined it for a living. It's quite fast (but so are Postfix and
Exim), and has a commendably modular, paranoid design.

It is that. And therefore requires a bit of getting used to, and is not
to everyone's taste.
But it's also proprietary software. The other MTAs cited are open source.
