Well, Samba 3.x has (in theory at least) support for AD authentication,
but it's still under heavy development, and I don't know how well it
works, or if it works at all.
However, AD clients can also use LDAP for authentication, though not
knowing much about it, I can't say whether this is allowed by default or
needs to be explicitly enabled at the server.
Can you mail me any more specific info you pick up on this, and I'll
write a HOWTO on AD authentication for the site.
