[ILUG] SiS 630 drivers

[ILUG] SiS 630 drivers

Hi,

The only problem with the sis chipset is that if you have the 5591/5592
AGP (lspci -v)which the sis630 is part of, it's not supported under
linux in agp mode(Generic sis support in the kernel)so DRI/GLX will lock
your machine up if you try to use any software that used glxgears
chromium.
So there is no quake3 as of yet on my laptop.Xv works perfect(DVD's)
I think it might work for older chipsets/not the 5591/5592,
SIS have failed to release spec sheets.

The driver from Thomas Winischhofer sisfb and the X driver are quite
stable.
I check the site quite often looking for updates.
I have emailed sis on the subject of releasing spec sheets to Xfree but
as of yet i have not heard back (my advice is not to but any sis gears
if you want to play games or not dual booting)
Regards,
Nils
