KDE is better than gnome

I dont see why people even bother comparing the two.
IFAICS:

KDE trys to provide a ready to go desktop with a feature set designed to
appeal to the majority of users. It is an "out of the box" sorta
product. It's very mac-like in the way it appeals to people who just
want their desktop to work so that they can get on with their work.

GNOME is a toolkit for creating one's own desktop interface. It is for
all the hackers amongst us who like being able to configure EVERYTHING
to attain the maximum in efficiency and user experience.

Being the big mad guru that I am I use Gnome and when I'm introducing
someone to linux I'm faced with the decision: KDE or GNOME.

If they are a complete newbie who doenst want to learn about linux but
just wants "a version of windows that wont crash when they send and
email", then I install GNOME and configure it myself specifically
designed around the 3 or 4 tasks that the user wants to be able to do,
and cut ALL the other crap out.

If the person is curious but not the maddest nerd in the house I give
them a generic kde install and show them how to create a new user
account when they fsked their first one up and let them at it.

If the user shows any curiousity/ability to handle a system like gnome -
the equivalent of a windows power user then I throw them in a the deep
end with a generic install of gnome and point them at my website if they
get in any trouble.

So yeah, KDE v.s GNOME is like mac v's unix : very different people like
each one and they are never gonna convince eachother to switch.

That my few cents
