[ILUG] galway developer?

sorry to interrupt our regularly scheduled nigerian money scams...

not everything is final yet, but we might need to hire a new developer.
i'll know for certain by tuesday, but as i'm going on holiday on thursday
i'd like to get the ball rolling for interviews starting on 25/10/2002.
i'll put up a further message on tuesday if people would like to wait
to respond when things are more clear.

we would prefer to hire someone in the galway/mayo area.  (ok, i would,
i'm all lonely out here)  there's kind of a large skill list involved
and i'm listing them here in order of preference: perl, c, sql, mysql,
rpm packaging, php, apache, postgres.  obviously all s/w development will
be on linux, but experience with other unix operating systems is a bonus
(aka, *bsd, solaris, hp/ux, sco, unixware).  this is not because we'll
be developing on those systems, i'm just trying to avoid "all the world
is a vax" syndrome.  while development experience is what we're looking
for, an awareness of admin issues is highly valued.

all the normal things about personal skills apply.  you'll need
to communicate with your fellow developers and others in order to
understand/build/complete projects.  the main goal is to get projects
done, but it's done eight hours a day, five days a week - we should be
able to have fun in the process.  that's not all that possible if you're
not a self-starter and don't have a professional commitment to your work.
