Having removed one more obsticle to the complete removal of that other OS,
in getting the software modem on my laptop running under linux, I've a
question ...

is there any reliable way to calculate your connection speed if you don't
trust what the modem reports ... I already have the modem reporting its own
speed (46.4) last time I connected, but it didn't 'feel' like that ... more
like about 38.4, so I'm looking for some basic tool to guage the connection
speed ..

Any suggestions

(Mdk 9.0 + patches ...)
