[ILUG] i845 chipset and X

[ILUG] i845 chipset and X

John Mc Donald johnmcd at cs.may.ie
Thu Oct 10 13:14:03 IST 2002

Hi,

I have been trying to get X to work with the i845G chipset for the last
few days, but without any success. I have a Dell GX260 Pentium 4 running
RedHat 8.0. As described on one of X's support pages
(http://www.xfree86.org/~dawes/845driver.html) I have upgraded the
kernel to 2.4.19 and downloaded the latest xc tree from the XFree CVS
repository. I have built (make World) and installed (make install) X,
loaded up the agpgart and i830 modules. However when I try to run X I
get a error saying that it can't find the the i830 module.

I have attached Xfree.0.log and my XF86Config below. If anyone could be
of any help on this matter I would be very grateful. If I can provide
any extra information regarding my system/setup please let me know.

TIA,
John.
