HTML is not programming really there's no compling Its a laungage which was
desinged(or copyed and altered from SGML,I believe) for content Fomating or
layout ( and very badly at that ),to display information in other words not
to make programs or applications.Well what I was saying was that there large
programs out there that you can use specifically for Java but they are not
*strictly* necessary for a beginer are most of you're programs one file
programs with the main running the program and thats it?.If so you can use a
run of the mill text editor , I dont know which Distro you may be using but
there should be a few editors avaible JEdit should do you , write up ure
program save it in the same directory as you're javac binary file , as a
java file( get the SDK from sun's site , Im presuming you dont know how to
change enviroment variables , if you dont what that means ignore it). Then
with bash or whatever you may use as youre command line compile the program
> javac ProgramExample.java it compiles the program and you run it by
typing
>java ProgramExample this can be simplified a lot by the way!

When you compile and the compiler finds errors the console ( bash command
line window ) output will tell you the type of error you made and the line
its on EXACTLY the same as what is printed out by kawa IDE.Im telling you
try some programs without GUI's it will be an eyeopening experince if you
dont know the inner workings of how java works because it shows you that a
GUI is not neccesary for anything and as a matter of fact CLI(Command Line
Interface)
can be more powerfull sometimes.Again do this if you're staring of and are
doing small programs only easy stuff , you may know all this stuff that im
talking about or you may not if you dont do ask one of you're lectures how
Java works what happens with the code you write.Im in second year and I dont
think half of my class understand how java works or about things like
enviromental variables and alternative IDE's.Whenever thats brought up in
lectures its stuffed into the "too hard" concentrate on how to press the
pretty buttons kids!!.Its infuraiting , anyway I doubt that is of any use
to you but here's hoping :p
