I've got a KeySpan RS232 adapter. Works with everything I have including
Linux and Mac OS X, but I don't know about OpenBSD. The company seems to
be open-source friendly, going out of their way to aid the development
of the Linux driver.

USB has less in common with RS232 than ethernet.
