I was wondering if i'd see this again. I can tell you i never got it to 
work. I spent bloody ages at it. i tried the alsa drivers and the oss 
drivers but i had no luck. I read this page: 
http://www.divisionbyzero.com/laptop/ which didn't help me too much when 
it came to sound. Perhaps the changes he talked about are now available? 
go check this out. It might work. I *can* tell you that a friend of mine 
got sound to work on a dell latitude ls under freebsd. but then he had a 
problem with a wireless card.

One way or the other i recommend you look at that page when it comes to 
linux and the dell latitude ls. It should be handy.
