Well, to be fair, it wasn't the system's SCSI controller after all ... the
same module is working happily now ...
The problem instead lay with the combination of SCSI and ReiserFS ... looks
like there's still some work to be done there. If anyone knows if this is a
known issue a pointer / reference would be welcome. Otherwise I'll have to
investigate somewhat further, and log it as a bug with the Reiser folk !
