This isn't really an autoconf problem - you can either set your
environment's LD_LIBRARY_PATH (load library path) to
/usr/local/lib, or add /usr/local/lib to the directories in
/etc/ld.so.conf, and run ldconfig afterwards. After that you
should have no problems.
