I've been asked to clarify this.
It's actually as of 2.5.43 and Linus coded this himself.
The change is that to burn CDs you now don't need the ide-scsi layer,
you can just do cdrecord dev=/dev/hdc and you don't need to
do any cdrecord -scanbus messing.
