[ILUG] SATA controllers / disks

Anyone know if the Highpoint Rocket 1540 is any good, especially 
wrt linux support, eg:

Also, what about disks? What's a decent disk these days in terms of 
reliability, warranty, performance and capacity/â‚ ¬?Eg:

Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 200GB for €169:

(obviously, the disks need to be linux compatible).
