BIOMETRICS
“A eye to the future”
by Martin Fitzgerald
Faculty of Engineering

Dublin Institute of Technology
Bolton Street
Dublin 1.
Large Lecture Theatre, Room 259
Thursday 22nd April 2004, 6pm

In today's globally connected world, there is increasing interest in using
biometrics (personal physical attributes such as fingerprints, facial
images, voice patterns, iris codes, and hand geometry) for human
verification, identification, and "screening" applications. Biometrics are
attractive because they cannot be "forgotten," are not easily stolen, and
provide a direct, undeniable link between a user and a transaction.

This lecture introduces the key mainstream biometrics and their future
implications for security and privacy

Tea and Coffee served at 5.30pm.
(Wine reception following the presentation)

This lecture is open to all staff, students, industry and the public.

For further details please contact Dr. David Kennedy, Faculty of
Engineering at 4023846.
